We’re so excited to share with you the newly redesigned Alexandria Small Business Development Center (SBDC) website. We hope you’ll find its new layout, level of information and functionality particularly useful whatever your business circumstance or need.
The City of Alexandria provided funding to the Alexandria SBDC to redesign its website so both existing business owners and prospective entrepreneurs can access pertinent and timely information to help them save time, solve problems and accomplish their goals with better planned strategies. The new site takes a unique approach presenting the information simultaneously from several aspects –
- According to the stage of the business (startup, managing daily activities, or growth stage)
- Pertinent to your particular industry
- Depending on your specific issue or needs
We know that prospective entrepreneurs and existing business owners encounter many issues and questions at all hours of the day and week, and our hope is that the architecture of the new website enables you to gather helpful information whenever it’s most convenient for you.
The new site offers background information to those unfamiliar with Small Business Development Centers to explain why and how to use SBDC services. Particularly for those in the startup process, we offer a drop-down checklist of steps you need to follow. By following that checklist, you should be able to anticipate the preparations you need to make and the requirements you’ll need to meet – and hopefully minimize surprises.
A robust Resources & Programs section has a large amount of information archived from a broad array of respected sources. It’s organized by stage of business, by industry and by area of need, to help you tailor your search.
We also offer better ways to request and prepare for appointments with Alexandria SBDC staff. We know that not all questions can be answered by our online resources. Existing business owners and prospective entrepreneurs in the City of Alexandria will be able to submit requests to meet with SBDC staff for free and confidential one-to-one sessions. Those sessions can provide you objective feedback, answer questions, and help you make worthwhile connections.
Our new site will always be evolving, and we will be continually updating information and looking for new and timely materials to add. We welcome your feedback and hope you’ll let us know what has been useful and what other information could be helpful to you.
