How long have you been in business in Alexandria? We opened in July 2022 so only a few months.   

Tell me a little about your business(es): Ms. Moxie’s is a period positive/feminine hygiene shop for all women and girls. We are on a mission to de-stigmatize and remove the shame traditionally associated with the purchase of feminine hygiene and intimate wellness products. As a nurse owned boutique, we are focused on education and only offering the highest quality products for our customers. Along with the necessities we also stock many fun gift items.  

How has the SBDC supported your business?  The SBDC was invaluable when my idea was in it’s infancy. They worked closely with me and helped guide me through the business planning process.  

Something unique you are doing this holiday season with your business(es). Any holiday deals? We will definitely be participating in Plaid Friday and Small Business Saturday and offering discounts on select items! 

Favorite thing about the holiday season in Alexandria: It is always so fun and festive with all the decorative lights and events that take place. It is such a great community to live and own a business!  

Something you are thankful for: I have many blessings this year. A month before opening my shop I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Trying to open my business and navigate treatment was quite the challenge. I am so grateful for all the love and support given to me by my family, friends, customers, my team of incredible physicians, business community and of course mt amazing team who hold the seams together in my absence while I recover from all the various aspects of treatment.   

Favorite Alexandria business to visit during the holidays (besides your own): That’s a tough question! What makes Alexandria unique is that there are so many great shops!T  

Favorite holiday tradition: Listening to Christman music while I bake!   

Highlight of the year (personal or business related): Being courageous in the face of evil and getting my shop open!
