Throughout the month of December the Alexandria SBDC will be highlighting some of our clients to get an inside scoop of what their holiday season looks like.
Name: Brooke WS Johnson
Business Name(s): Blooms of Paradise
How long have you been in business in Alexandria? I am at the end of my fourth year. My fifth year starts in January.
Tell me a little about your business(es): Blooms of Paradise offers clients impermanent art. Personalization and customization is terribly important when you’re giving a gift or trying to convey your feelings. So the goal is to express an emotion in flowers while leaving the customer with a keepsake vessel that will last.
How did you first learn about the SBDC? I think it was a step on Virginia’s Business One Stop page.
Something unique you are doing this holiday season with your business(es): I’m literally spicing things up for the holidays when it’s appropriate for clients. Cinnamon, star anise, cloves and other things offer very nice fragrances and bring smiles and warmth during winter.
Favorite thing about the holiday season in Alexandria: A few of my favourites are the decorated doors of Olde Towne, frost on brick in the mornings, and who can beat Waterskiing Santa?
Something you are thankful for: Everything! I am thankful especially to Gloria Flanagan for answering all of my questions and helping me at every turn. I am also extremely appreciative of the West End Business Association.
Favorite Alexandria business to visit during the holidays (besides your own):
Naughty: Port City Brewing or Lost Boy Cider
Nice: Greenstreet Gardens
Favorite holiday tradition: Eating cranberry sauce, stuffing, and mashed potatoes as breakfast.
